Google releases GenAI tools for music creation
Google is increasing its investment in AI technology to create new music and songs, as GenAI tools begin to change the music industry in incredible (and sometimes even bad-ass) ways.
< br>The massive search engine today launched MusicFX, an updated version of MusicLM, the music creation tool Google launched last year. MusicFX can create music and music loops of up to 70 seconds in length, providing what Google claims is "better" and "faster" music production.
MusicFX is included in Google's AI Test Kitchen, an app that lets your users test AI-powered experiments in the company's labs. MusicFX technically launched for some users in December, but it's now generally available.
I must say, it's not scary.
Like the previous version, MusicFX allows users to instantly access text to describe the song they want to create ("two nylon-string guitars playing in the style of Flamenco"). The device is preset to create two 30-second versions, with the option to extend the run (up to 50 or 70 seconds) or simply stitch the beginning and end of the cycle.
Instructions specifically intended for others are explained in the instructions. For example, if you enter "country," you'll see a menu that includes "rock" and "bluegrass." For the word "catchy", the list may include "fast" and "melody".
Currently in the South, MusicFX also provides a word cloud of instructions in addition to narration, instruments, and additional music (e.g. "edgy", "fast", "exciting", "808 drums") < br>
So how does it sound? In my brief test, the MusicFX models... well? Let's be honest, music production tools have evolved to the point where it's difficult for writers to differentiate their output. Modern technology now produces beautiful, clean and clear pieces; However, the pieces can be boring, uninspiring and musical.
Maybe it's sad for me, but one of my inspirations is "Fun house music that dances, inspires and gives sunny rooftop vibes in summer." MusicFX does well and the tracks are good; But I can't say they're close to any of the better DJs I've heard lately.
