Tottenham Record First Premier League Win Without Harry Kane or Son Heung-min in Five Years
Tottenham Hotspur won a Premier League game without Harry Kane or Son Heung-min for the first time in more than five years on Wednesday night. Spurs had not picked up three EPL points without calling on Kane or Son since January 2019 when Dele Alli and Harry Winks were on target in a 2-1 triumph at Fulham.
But five managers and 1,837 days later, goals from Destiny Udogie, Brennan Johnson and Richarlison helped Ange Postecoglou's men come from 1-0 down to beat Brentford 3-2 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Richarlison netted just once in the Premier League last season after struggling to find his place in an attack led by Kane, who left Spurs to join Bayern Munich in August.
Spurs had to endure a nervy final half-hour on Wednesday after a terrible back-pass by Udogie gifted a goal to Ivan Toney. But Postecoglou's side held on for a win that took them up to fourth place in the EPL table - ahead of Aston Villa, who lost 3-1 at home to Newcastle 24 hours earlier.
